Video supported on Skype

Cisco Technology Developer Partner StoneVoice has unveiled the latest version of SkyStone, the IP software Skype gateway, supporting video. The Skype world and the business video communication solutions can now converge seamlessly, it says. Employees will be able to do video calls and conference calls simply from their desk contacting their customers, business partners, distributors located anywhere and therefore improving their communication quality.

Skystone could have a direct impact in several vertical markets. In contact centres, for years video support has been one of the main topics of discussions, but was never implemented because of technical complexity and price issues. With the advent of SkyStone Video, the customers calling the call centre can use the Skype free client and webcam (if needed), making the video call centre application a reality. On their side the Call Centers owners can re use existing standard IP Contact Centers infrastructure like Cisco for example and enable Video Call Center services by just deploying SkyStone Video.
